Case Study - Server Room
The customer required 25kW of cooling in a room being kitted out for use as a computer server room which only measured 4x5m.
Their initial requirement was for a floor mounted 25kW cooling capacity ducted air handler in the room, however from our calculations we found the airflow velocity in the room would have been in excess of 3m per second, this would have generated high air pressure, excess noise, used a large floor area and any loose paper would have been blown around.
We recommended the installation of a 25kW Hitachi cooling only condensing unit, with 2 x 12.5kW under ceiling mounted indoor units located in the server room.
The equipment used satisfied the cooling requirements and solved the airflow problems whilst not taking up any floor space. This installation also worked out as a much more economical solution than the original proposal.
